Box Score BIDDEFORD, Maine – Mitchell College overpowered Maine Maritime Academy to take the 95-73 victory in the consolation game of the Ramada Roundball Invitational hosted by the University of New England at the Harold Alfond Forum.
Sophomore Kyle Boucher (Wayne, Maine) paced four players in double figures with 18 points to go with nine rebounds for Maine Maritime. Sophomore Dylan Stevens (Wells, Maine) was 5-for-7 from the floor to finish with 14 points, while sophomore Dylan Price (Madison, Maine) scored 12 and first-year Tyler Thayer (Hermon, Maine) grabbed 11. Thayer, who added 10 boards to post a double-double, was named to the all-tournament team.
Parris Hill, who was named to the all-tournament team for Mitchell College (1-1), was 16 of 27 from the floor with 36 points, grabbed nine rebounds and added six steals. Junior Donavan McClean contributed 30 points, making 13 of 24 from the floor, including 3 of 10 from beyond the arc. He also added three of Mitchell's 19 steals. Junior Devonta Mosley came off the bench to score 10 points on 5-for-6 accuracy from the floor.
"There aren't many teams in the country that can win with turning the ball over as much as we did today," said Head Coach David Muchnick.
Maine Maritime turned the ball over 30 times, while only forcing 18 Mitchell turnovers. Both teams shot well from the floor, with Mitchell making 55.6 percent (40 of 72) of its tries, and Maine Maritime converting 49.2 percent (29 of 59).
"I was very proud of our effort, particularly in the second half today. Our guys fought extremely hard. We will continue to fight. We will get this thing turned around," Muchnick added.
Maine Maritime (0-2) will return home to host the University of Maine at Presque Isle this Wednesday (Nov. 19) night at 7:00 PM, and the University of Maine at Augusta this Friday (Nov. 21) night also at 7:00 PM.
