Box Score LYNDON CENTER, Vt. – The Maine Maritime Academy Mariners picked up their second-straight NAC win, and third-straight victory, over Lyndon on Sunday, 5-0.
In the 15th minute Tom Samson (Waterville, Maine) stole the ball from a Lyndon defender and beat goalkeeper Jason Marks to the short side, putting the Mariners up 1-0. Gabriel Warren (Edgecomb, Maine) scored off a corner kick as the ball found the back of the net through a crowd of defenders, in the 32nd minute making it 2-0.
Jonathan Reeks (Bedford, N.H.) found himself positioned perfectly when Henry Hersey (Greenville, Maine) shot the ball from 18 meters out. Marks made the initial save but was unable to recover from Hersey's shot. Reeks kicked the ball into the wide-open net to give the Mariners a 3-0 lead, and grab his team-leading eighth goal of the season.
Samson grabbed his second goal of the game in the 67th minute, with Reeks earning the assist. Bryan Soucy (Windham, Maine) grabbed his first goal of the season in the 90th minute when his shot hit the post and into the net, securing the 5-0 victory.
Maine Maritime outshot Lyndon 19-8 in the game and held a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Marshall Spear (Rockport, Maine) stopped all two shots he faced, while Marks stopped four shots, sharing time in net with Matt Laclair.
The Mariners will travel to Husson on Saturday, October 4th for a 7:30 PM NAC matchup.
