Box Score BANGOR, Maine – Men's soccer fell to non-conference opponent Gordon College on Friday, 1-0 at Husson University.
The two teams were engaged in a scoreless battle until the 54th minute when Gordon College capitalized on a corner kick opportunity. Andy Guthrie found teammate Ben Gradert who then headed in the goal for Gordon.
The Mariners had three corner kick opportunities in the final ten minutes but could not get past Gordon keeper Josh Spoonhour.
Marshall Spear was tagged with the loss for the Mariners. While Spoonhour earned the win with two saves.
Maine Maritime (0-3) will play again tomorrow in day two of the Husson University Eagles Challenge Cup. The Mariners will face the University of Southern Maine at 5:00 PM.
