Box Score CASTINE, Maine -- Maine Maritime Academy men's soccer fell 1-0 to Thomas College in North Atlantic Conference action on Tuesday evening, at Ritchie Field.
In the scoreless first half, both teams tallied one shot on goal, but Thomas held a 7-4 edge in total shots.
The second half proved to be an extremely physical battle. With just under 37 minutes remaining in the second half, Bryan Soucy's (Windham, Maine) penalty kicked was deflected by Thomas keeper Joakim Sternas, keeping things scoreless.
London Steede-Jackson converted on a free kick in the 79th minute to give the Terriers the 1-0 lead, and the eventual victory.
Joshua Reeks (Bedford, N.H.) was impressive in net, recording one save, while Sternas ended the evening with two stops.
The Mariners fall to 3-10-1 overall and 2-4-1 in the NAC, while the Terriers improve to 11-4 on the season and 7-1 in the conference. The Mariners return to action on Saturday against Green Mountain College.
