Box Score CASTLETON, Vt. – Maine Maritime Academy tallied 13 first half goals and cruised to a 22-2 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory over Green Mountain College in men's lacrosse action on Friday evening at Spartan Stadium.
Maine Maritime (3-4, 3-0 NAC) received five goals apiece from Peter Moore (Scarborough, Maine), Nicholas Betti (Upper Saddle River, N.J.) and Mike Fuller (Portland, Maine). Moore added three assists while Fuller notched two helpers. Dean Samuelson (Ellsworth, Maine) netted three goals and two assists, while A.J. Larrabee (Farmington, Maine) had a goal and three assists. Ian Larcom (Middletown, R.I.) recorded a team-high seven groundballs.
Green Mountain (1-5, 1-2 NAC) was led by Richard Aberle, Jr. who scored both of the Eagle goals. Nick Parsons added an assist and four groundballs while Nate Laymon tallied a game-high eight groundballs.
Maine Maritime pocketed six goals in the opening quarter as Betti and Moore each had two. The visitors tacked on seven more in the second quarter to take a 13-0 lead into halftime. By the half, Betti and Fuller each had secured a hat trick.
Richard Aberle, Jr. put the Eagles on the board late in the third quarter with back-to-back goals. The Mariners ran the table in the final stanza with five more goals to bring an end to the night's scoring.
James Wilgus (Phippsburg, Maine) posted his third win of the season in net for the Mariners stopping five shots. Jacob Rondeau (Richmond, R.I.) replaced Wilgus for the final five minutes of the game making one save. Carl Diethelm suffered the loss in goal for the Eagles while tallying three saves.
The Mariners will return to action when they host Southern Maine on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
