Faltings Leads Mariners to Fifth at NAC Championship

JOHNSON, Vt. – Senior Jessica Faltings (Northport, N.Y.) finished 18th overall to lead the Maine Maritime Academy women's cross country team to a fifth place finish at the North Atlantic Conference Championship on Saturday afternoon.

Faltings finished the 5K course with a time of 23.40.2 to pace the Mariners in the 86 runner field. Nerissa Larrabee (Caribou, Maine) crossed the finish line next for the Mariners in 33rd place, followed closely by Mary Shea (Brownfield, Maine) and Alex Allen (Easton, Maine) in 36th and 37th place respectively. Robyn Larrabee (Caribou, Maine) rounded out the top five finisher for the Mariners in 40th place.

Colby-Sawyer claimed the NAC Championship with a combined team score of 36. The Chargers placed five runners in the top five. Castleton University's Kaylyn Crompton was the top finisher, recording a time of 21.02.5.

The women's runner-up was Castleton University, as the Spartans turned in a 55, while Husson was third with a score of 105 followed by UMaine-Farmington (111), Johnson State (164) in sixth, New England College (177), Green Mountain (201), Lyndon (213) and UMaine-Presque Isle and Thomas (Inc.)

Maine Maritime returns to action next Saturday, November 5 at the ECAC Championships at the Hudson Valley Sports Dome in Milton, N.Y.
