Box Score BANGOR, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy men's soccer fell to Husson University 2-1, on Saturday night in North Atlantic Conference action.
The Eagles scored two goals late in the first half to take a 2-0 lead into the intermission. Saker Ghanayem put the Eagles on the board at 39:32 and Miguel Caballero found the back of the net just over a minute later.
The Mariners cut the gap to one when Ike Doiron (Wilton, Maine) picked up his fourth goal of the season in the 64th minute on a pass from Dalton Moore (Hollis Center, Maine). The Mariner offense applied heavy pressure to Husson's keeper Cody Gross late in the second half, but could not come up with the equalizer.
Joshua Reeks (Bedford, N.H.) and Marshall Spear (Rockport, Maine) combined for four saves for the Mariners, splitting the time in net. Gross ended the evening with four stops.
Maine Maritime falls to 4-6-1 overall and 3-2 in the NAC, while Husson improves to 5-5-2 on the season and 4-4-1 in the conference. The Mariners return to action tomorrow when they host Pine Manor at 2:00 p.m., in a non-conference matchup.
