Box Score CASTLETON, Vt. – Dean Samuelson (Southbury, Conn.) recorded a hat trick as Maine Maritime Academy men's lacrosse fell 22-6, to Castleton University on Saturday afternoon.
The Spartans held the Mariners to just three goals in the first three quarters to hand Maine Maritime Academy men's lacrosse their first North Atlantic Conference loss of the season.
Samuelson tallied three goals and an assist, while scooping up two ground balls. Michael Martel (Biddeford, Maine), Jacob Rondeau (Richmond, R.I.) and Chase Whittemore (Skowhegan, Maine) added the other goals for the Mariners, while George Doe (Kennebunkport, Maine) dished out an assist.
Alec Grant (Hollis, N.H.) scooped up a team-high six ground balls and Michael Dedian (Scarborough, Maine) led the Mariners with three caused turnovers. Cody Schell (Pasadena, Md.) recorded 19 saves in net for the Mariners.
Tom Pardew led the Spartans with three goals. Connor Kelly, Sam Frackleton, Taylor Swarter, Zach Devoid and Wyatt Pickrell each grabbed two goals apiece. Joshua Cody led the Spartans with four caused turnovers and Joshua Gosselin led all players with seven ground balls.
Peter Latulippe earned the win net for the Spartans, tallying one save in 30 minutes of play.
The Mariners fall to 3-7 on the season and 3-1 in the conference and the Spartans improve to 8-5 overall and 5-0 in the NAC. The Mariners will travel to take on Lyndon State tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.
