Monks Top Mariners on Senior Day

CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy men's soccer fell to Saint Joseph's College of Maine 3-0 on Sunday evening in non-conference action on Ritchie Field.

Prior to the game, the Mariners honored their two seniors Ike Doiron (Wilton, Maine) and Tom Samson (Waterville, Maine).

Mitchell Duncan gave the Monks a 1-0 lead following a pass from Trevor Lopes in the 24th minute. Just two minutes later, Jesse Ramirez doubled Saint Joseph's lead and Noah Elmore added a goal in the 32nd minute to give the Monks a 3-0 lead.

The Mariners held the Monks scoreless in the second half, but could not find the back of the net.

Maine Maritime's Joshua Reeks (Bedford, N.H.) tallied 12 saves in net in the first half while Andrew Coleman (Saco, Maine) recorded four stops in the second half. Blake Mullen earned the win in net for the Monks in nearly 81 minutes of play.

The Mariners fall to 2-8-3 on the season, while the Monks improve to 13-0-1 overall. Maine Maritime returns to action on Tuesday evening when they travel to UMaine-Farmington for a 3:00 pm North Atlantic Conference (NAC) matchup.
