CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy men's lacrosse cruised to an 18-0 victory over Johnson State College in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Ritchie Field on Friday evening. 

With the win the Mariners improve to 3-7 overall and 3-3 in the conference, while the Badgers fall to 0-8 and 0-5 in the NAC. Maine Maritime returns to action on Monday, April 23 when they wrap up the regular season at Thomas College for a 7:30 pm NAC matchup.

Prior to the game the team honored senior players Christopher Flaherty (Scarborough, Maine), Alex Grant-Roy (Biddeford, Maine) and Justin Kretzmer (Glastonbury, Conn.).

The Mariners jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back, on their way to the 18-0 victory.

Sawyer Watson (Topsham, Maine) led the Mariners with five goals, one assist and two ground balls, while Zeke Tocci (Naples, Maine) net a hat-trick to go along with two assists, five ground balls and one caused turnover. Bailey Stockford (Mt. Vernon, Maine), Zach Davidson (Manchester, Maine) and John Nevins (Melbourne Beach, Fla.) each tallied a pair of goals, while Flaherty, Grant-Roy, Orion Sargent (Topsham, Maine) and Mitchell Farley (Biddeford, Maine) chipped in with the other goals. Farley led the Mariners with 12 ground balls, going 17-of-22 from the faceoff and Kretzmer led the Mariners defensively with five caused turnovers.

Travis Benson led the Badgers with nine ground balls and three caused turnovers.

Isaiah Weston (Mt. Vernon, Maine) earned the victory in net for the Mariners, stopping two shots in the first half, while Matthew Emery (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) tallied two saves in the second half. Johnson's Patrick Bell tallied nine saves in the loss.
