CASTINE, Maine -- Maine Maritime Academy women's cross country prepares for the 2019 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship on Saturday, November 2 on the campus of Northern Vermont University-Lyndon in Lyndonville, Vermont.

Head Coach Ryan King is leading the Mariners in his ninth season. Last season the Mariners finished fifth at the NAC Championship, led by graduating senior Sierra James who placed 9th out of the 58 runners. The Mariners will be looking for top returning finisher from last season, Abigail L'Abbé (Topsham, Maine), who placed 20th out of 58 runners, freshman newcomers Lily Cook (Southwest Harbor, Maine), and Milo Cook-Sharp (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) to be key contributors in guiding the Mariners on Saturday. 

This fall the Mariners have been preparing for the NAC Championships by competing at difficult courses against talented programs and will look for a mixture of youth and veterans to help them improve upon last years results. 

The Mariners have been picked to place tied-fifth in the NAC Women's Cross Country Pre-Championship Poll. Voting for the Pre-Championship Poll was conducted among the league's head women's cross country coaches.
