Soccer's Matt Caron Tabbed Male Athlete of the Year

CASTINE, Maine – Men's Soccer's Matt Caron (Scarborough, Maine) has been named the 2019-2020 Maine Maritime Academy Male Athlete of the Year.

Caron, a senior Marine Systems Engineering major, led the Mariners and the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) in goals, assists and points this season.

The forward tallied 14 goals and 19 assists (47 points), to become just the third Maine Maritime men's soccer player in program history to surpass 100 career points. During the 2019 season, Caron scored seven game-winning goals, to set a new single-season record in that category and helped lead the Mariners to the top seed in the NAC Tournament and an appearance in the NAC Championship Final.

Caron garnered NAC Player of the Year honors and a spot on the NAC First Team for the second-straight season, while also being named to the United Soccer Coaches Men's Division III All-New England Region Second Team.
