Women's Swimming & Diving Shatters Records in NAC Invitational

CASTINE, Maine – The Maine Maritime Academy women's swimming & diving team placed third out of four teams in the two-day North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Virtual Invitational inside of Bok Pool.

The Mariners competed against the Eagles from Husson University, the Broncos from SUNY-Delhi and the Wildcats from Cazenovia College, in the two-day virtual event that spanned Friday to Sunday, with each team competing on their respective campuses.

Maine Maritime finished third with a team score of 354, behind Husson University who took the team victory with a score of 702 and Cazenovia College who took second place, with a score of 371.

  • The relay team of Sam Durkin (Green Lane, Penn.), Tamra Miller (South Thomaston, Maine), Kaitlyn Reny (Lewiston, Maine) and Megan Durrua (Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.) finished second in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:53.96
  • Milo Cook-Sharp (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) took second in the 500 yard freestyle and set both a pool and school record with a time of 6:01.00
  • Reny placed fourth in the 100 yard IM and set a school record with a time of 1:10.48
  • Durrua claimed first in the 100 yard breaststroke and set a school record with a time of 1:13.90
  • The relay team of Miller, Ellie Gellerson (Blue Hill, Maine), Cook-Sharp and Durrua took second in the 400 yard medley and set a school record with a time of 4:45.75
  • Cook-Sharp placed second and set a pool record in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:11.67
  • Durrua took first and set a school record in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:06.26
  • The relay team of Miller, Gellerson, Cook-Sharp and Durkin finished second in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 2:11.48
  • Cook-Sharp set a pool and team record when she finished second in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 12:27.83
  • Durrua took the top spot in the 100 yard freestyle and set both a pool and team record with a time of 58.39
  • The relay team of Cook-Sharp, Reny, Miller and Durrua finished second and set a pool record in the 800 yard freestyle with a time of 9:25.42
  • Reny placed second in the 50 yard breaststroke with a time of 35.64 ahead of Gellerson in third (36.05)
  • The relay team of Cook-Sharp, Reny, Durkin and Durrua took second in the 400 yard freestyle and set both a team and school record with a time of 4:14.87

The Mariners wrap up their season on Friday night with another virtual meet against the University of New England at 5:00 pm.
