Nor'easters Edge Mariners in Opener

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy men's soccer fell to the University of New England, 1-0 on Wednesday night in non-conference action.

How it Happened: Alex Woodworth put the Nor'easters up 1-0 with his eventual game-winner in the 14th minute of the game.

Inside the Numbers: The Mariners held a 10-7 advantage in shots and a 3-2 edge in corners.

Matthew Castella (San Antonio, Texas) collected two saves in goal in the first half for the Mariners, while Maxwell Tomlin (Monroe, Maine) went untested in the second half in net. UNE's Triston O'Hagan stopped all three shots on goal he faced, to earn the win.

Up Next: The Mariners fall to 0-1 on the season, while the Nor'easters improve to 1-0. Maine Maritime returns to action on Saturday, when they host UMaine-Fort Kent for a non-conference matchup on Ritchie Field at 5:00 pm.
