Mariners Shut Out Owls

CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime men's soccer picked up a 3-0 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) win over the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Saturday afternoon at Ritchie Field.

How it Happened: The Mariners took a quick 1-0 lead in the 10th minute when Xander Fortuna-Ramos (West Covina, Calif.) beat Keith Mank, off an assist from Will San Pedro (Topsham, Maine). Landon Nichols (Searsmont, Maine) added a goal in the 57th minute and Fortuna-Ramos contributed his second goal in the 85th minute to round out the scoring for the Mariners.

Inside the Numbers: Maine Maritime held a strong 33-10 advantage in shots and an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks. Trevor Gray (Gorham, Maine) tailed six saves to earn the win, while Mank made eight saves for the Owls, in the loss.

Up Next: The Mariners improve to 1-3 on the season and 1-0 in the conference, while the Owls fall to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the NAC. Maine Maritime returns to action on Saturday, September 18 when they travel to Vermont for a conference matchup against NVU-Lyndon.
