Mariners Fall to Mules

CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime women's soccer fell to Colby College, 0-4 on Tuesday evening.
 
How it Happened: After 15 minutes of battling back-and-forth, the Mules scored their first goal of the night in the 18th minute of the first half. The Mariners then held Colby for the rest of the half, going into the second with a score of 1-0. The Mules took control in the second half, scoring three goals on the Mariners to claim a 4-0 victory.     
 
Inside the Numbers:
  • Colby College scored four goals from four players; Jane Maguire, Kaleigh Quinn, Kylie Thorp, and Murphy Leung.
  • The Mules held an 18-0 advantage in shots and a 5-0 edge in corner kicks over the Mariners.
  • Lorelei Mason (Gardiner, Maine) got her first career start in net for the Mariners, tallying four saves on the night.
  • The Mules had three goalkeepers in net and all went untested.
 
Up Next: The Mariners fall to 4-5-1 overall, while the Mules improve to 4-5 on the season. Maine Maritime returns to action on Saturday, October 8 at 2:30pm in New York against SUNY Cobleskill for a conference matchup.
