Mariners Hand Broncos First Conference Loss

DELHI, N.Y. – Reuben Harrison (Heidelberg, Germany) scored both goals for the Mariners in their 2-0 victory against conference opponent, SUNY Delhi on Sunday afternoon.

How it Happened: The Mariners had an action packed first half, starting off with John-John Dickenson (Advance, N.C.) finding Harrison in front of the net for his first goal of the afternoon, to give the Mariners a 1-0 lead. Shortly after, Harrison got fouled in the box off a corner kick, resulting in a penalty kick for the Mariners. Harrison easily put the ball in the bottom left corner for his second goal, extending the Mariners lead to two. Both teams had multiple chances in the second half, but couldn't connect on any of them, resulting in a 2-0 victory for Maine Maritime.

Inside the Numbers:
  • Harrison recorded his fifth goal of the season, three of which were scored this weekend in New York.
  • The Mariners held a 14-9 advantage in shots and an 8-5 edge in corner kicks over the Broncos.
  • Trevor Gray (Gorham, Maine) picked up his three shutout of the season with three saves.
  • Jonathan Walch tallied three saves for the Broncos.

Up Next: Maine Maritime improves to 5-6-1 overall and 4-2-1 in conference, while SUNY Delhi falls to 8-4-2 overall and 4-1-2 in conference play. The Mariners return to action on Saturday, October 15 for senior day at 12:00pm when they host UMaine-Farmington in a conference matchup.
