Mariners Fall to Rams in Coastal Maine Classic

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Maine Maritime Women's Basketball continued their campaign at the Coastal Maine Classic Saturday with a 61-69 loss to Framingham State at Bowdoin College.

How it Happened: The Mariners had a less than satisfactory first half, creating a large deficit to overcome in the second. Coming out of halftime, the Mariners came out with fire and chipped away at Framingham State's lead; only allowing 10 points in the third quarter.

After having issues finishing and connecting on shots through the first three quarters, the Mariners came out in the quarter on fire behind the arc. Shooting at 58% from three point land, the Mariners hit seven threes, including one from Lauren Cook (Charlotte, Maine) to cut the Mariner's deficit to four with 0:39 left in the game. However, the comeback was not enough to push the Mariners over the hump. The Rams had all but seven of their points from the line in the fourth, pushing them to defeat the Mariners 60-69.

Inside the Numbers:
  • Grace Huntwork (Gretna, Nebraska) led the Mariners with 13 points, three rebounds, and two assists.
  • Erianna Moore (Fitchburg, Mass.) added 11 points.
  • Evelyn Dagan (Castine, Maine) scored 10 points in her college debut.
  • Flanney O'Connor had a game high of 21 points and 11 rebounds for the Rams.
  • Katherine Haselton netted 12 points for the Rams as well.
  • The Mariners shot 32.2% from the floor and 39.4% from beyond the arc, while Framingham State shot 40.3% from the hardwood and 22.2% from three point land.
