NCAA DIII Men's Lacrosse Tournament First Round: Maine Maritime vs. Norwich University

CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime men's lacrosse is set to compete against Norwich University in the first round of the NCAA DIII Men's Lacrosse Tournament on Wednesday, May 11 at 4pm on Sabine Field at Haynes Family Stadium in Northfield, Vt. This will be the first NCAA appearance for the Mariners in program history.

How They Got Here: Maine Maritime men's lacrosse claimed the program's first North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Title as the fourth seed, after beating #1 seeded SUNY Delhi, 12-11 in the semifinals, on a game-winning shot from Sam Nichol (Concord, N.H.) with 13 seconds left, and beating #3 seeded SUNY Canton, 21-18 in the NAC Championship, overcoming a seven-point deficit, to advance to the NCAA Tournament. Norwich University men's lacrosse claimed the Great North Atlantic Conference (GNAC) Championship as the number one seed, after cruising past Johnson & Wales, 23-7 in the semifinals and defeating Lasell University, 11-8 in the GNAC Championship to advance to the NCAA Tournament for the third time in program history.

Mariners: Maine Maritime went 6-2 in conference this season, capturing their first NAC Championship. The Mariners were led by First Team All-Conference selection and Tournament MVP, Jayden Wilson (Lewiston, Maine), along with a strong supporting cast of First Team selections, Jacob Belanger (Brunswick, Maine), Ian Haines (Cape Elizabeth, Maine), William Davee (Hope, Maine), and Chandler Coombs (Brunswick, Maine), and Second Team selections, Alex Stevens (South Portland, Maine), Zeke Tocci (Naples, Maine), Nichol, and Zach McCarthy (Malvern, Pa.).

Cadets: Norwich University went undefeated in conference (10-0) this season, capturing their third GNAC Title under head coach, Neal Anderson. The Cadets were led by Tournament MVP, Callum Jones (Burlington, Ont.) and four-time Player of the Week, Parker Campbell (Rockaway, N.J.).
