CASTINE, Maine — The Maine Maritime Academy men's lacrosse team dropped a 28-7 nonconference decision against Colby College at home on Wednesday.
Colby (4-5) and Maine Maritime (5-4) battled to a 3-1 decision after the opening quarter, the Mules opened with three-straight goals before sophomore
Tobey Lappin put the Mariners on the board off an assist from junior
Ryker Spear.
The Mules benefited from an 11-0 run to open the second quarter before Lappin scored in the final minute of the opening half to make the deficit 14-2.
The Mariners came out strong in the third quarter outscoring the Mules 5-3, Lappin added his third goal, while Spear scored from senior
Trey Marcil.
Marcil added back-to-back goals, the first from freshman
Randall Walker and the second from Junior
Jaden Knight and junior
Finn O'Donnell assisted Spear on the Mariners final goal.
Colby closed out the game on an 11-0 run in the fourth quarter to come away with the 28-7 decision.
Junior
Matthew Villeneuve led the Mariners with a team-high three caused turnovers, while junior
Bryce Crowell finished with 10 faceoff wins and six ground balls.
MMA returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Thomas College in North Atlantic Conference action at 5:30 p.m.
