PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy men's soccer dropped a 2-1 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) opener to the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened: After a scoreless first 10 minutes, UMPI's Nyden Reed put the Owls on the board off a feed from Diego Vega in the 12th minute. Diego scored one of his own in the 33rd minute, off a feed from Matthew Bayonne to give the Owls a 2-0 lead at the half.
Reuben Harrison (Heidelberg, Germany) cut the UMPI lead in half early into the second half when he struck a penalty kick past Xavier McAtee in the 47th minute. The Mariners created opportunities throughout the final 45 minutes but came up just short.

- Harrison and Pieter Oudejans (Rockledge, Fla.) led the Mariners with four shots each
- Maine Maritime held a 14-11 advantage in shots and a 9-2 advantage in corners
- Trevor Gray (Gorham, Maine) recorded five saves in net for the Mariners
- McAtee collected seven saves in net for the Owls
Up Next: Maine Maritime falls to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in the NAC, while the Owls improve to 1-1-1 overall and 1-0 in conference. The Mariners quickly return to action as they host Colby College on Sunday, September 11 at 3:30pm on Ritchie Field.
