CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy women's soccer dropped a 2-1 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) matchup to Cazenovia College on Saturday afternoon at Ritchie Field.
How it Happened:
Kirra Magaña (Miami, Fla.) put the Mariners on the board first, when she finished a feed from
Suzanne Wooldridge (Corona, Calif.) in the 11th minute to make it 1-0. The Wildcats responded later in the first half, when Jenicah Brown snuck one past
Bess MacArthur (Castine, Maine) to even it up at 1-1.
Both teams remained tied at 1-1 until the 59th minute, when Riley Minor scored the eventual game-winner, on a pass from Josie Barton, to give the Wildcats the 2-1 win.
Inside the Numbers:
- Cazenovia nearly outshot the Mariners 10-9, while the Mariners held a 5-1 advantage in corners
- Magaña, Hazel Stoddard (Old Orchard Beach, Maine), and Emma White (New Sharon, Maine) all recorded two shots each for the Mariners
- MacArthur recorded four saves in the loss for the Mariners, while Kaylana Criasia made four saves in the win for the Wildcats
Up Next: The Mariners fall to 2-4-1 overall and 2-1 in conference play, while the Wildcats improve to 2-4-1 overall and 2-1 in conference. Maine Maritime returns to action on Sunday, September 25 when they host SUNY Poly on Ritchie Field at 3:30pm.
