Mariners Shutout SUNY Poly in NAC Play

CASTINE, Maine – Emma White (New Sharon, Maine) scores the Mariners only goal of the afternoon in a 1-0 shutout against conference opponent, SUNY Poly. This win is the third shutout of the season for senior goalkeeper Bess MacArthur (Castine, Maine).
 
How it Happened: After 40 minutes of scoreless action, the Mariners converted on one last effort before the half. Maine Maritime kicked the ball off the SUNY Poly goalie, and White was there for the rebound, putting the Mariners on the board. The Wildcats had multiple opportunities to tie the game in the second half, but the Mariners came out untouched for the shutout.
 
Inside Numbers:
  • The Mariners held a 12-5 advantage in shots and a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks over the Wildcats.
  • MacArthur had three saves in net for the Mariners.
  • Michalyn Fagan tallied one save in 45 minutes, while Katie Bowers recorded four saves in the second half for the Wildcats.
 
Up Next: Maine Maritime improves to 3-4-1 overall and 3-1 in conference, while SUNY Poly falls to 2-2-2 overall and 1-1-1 in NAC play. The Mariners return to action in Waterville, Maine on Saturday, October 1 at 3:30pm against Thomas College in NAC play.
