BOWDOIN, Maine – Maine Maritime falls to two tough non-conference opponents on Saturday afternoon.
Rachel Melampy (Duxbury, Mass.) tallied two double-doubles in the games, with a total of 33 kills and 27 digs for the Mariners.

Mariners 1 – Judges – 3 (19-25, 25-27, 25-21, 18-25)
How it Happened: The first set had competitive back-and-forth action, before the Judges went on a four-point run to create some separation from the Mariners and claim the set. Brandeis fell to the Mariners early in this set, before working their way back to win. The Mariners took the third set, going on a six-point run under the service of
Katie Albritton (Hutto, Texas). The Judges handily took the third set for the 3-1 victory. Â

Inside the Numbers:
- Albritton dished out a game-high 47 assists, along with eight digs, three aces, and two kills.
- Melampy hit a game-high 23 kills, 14 digs and two aces.
- Ila Smith (Lexington, Ky.) tallied 11 kills, six digs, and three blocks.
- Sydney Rich (Williamsburg, Va.) recorded a team-high 20 digs, five assists, two kills, and one ace.
- Anna Ertischek had 18 kills, while Grom-Mansenecal tallied 45 assists, for the Judges.

Mariners 0 – Polar Bears 3 (16-25, 13-25, 20-25)
How it Happened: The Polar Bears set the tone early for the rest of the match, scoring nine-straight points to claim the first set, 25-16. The second set was more of the same with Bowdoin jumping to an early lead and never looking back. The third set was more competitive with the Mariners scoring five-straight points to climb back into the set, but was too little too late. The Polar Bears took the match 3-0.
Inside the Numbers:
- Melampy had a game-high 10 kills, to go with 13 digs and two aces.
- Albritton dished out 19 assists, six digs, and four kills.
- Rich had a game-high 17 digs and four assists.
- Two Polar Bears had six kills, while Haugen dished out 20 assists.
