Second Half Surge Sends Bobcats Over Mariners

CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy dropped a non-conference matchup to Bates College, 2-0 Tuesday evening on Ritchie Field.
 
How it Happened: Both teams battled to a scoreless first half before the Bobcats opened the scoring in the 49th minute when Alec Szwarcewicz scored the first of his two goals on the night off a cross from John O'Connor. Szwarcewicz scored his second goal in the 66th minute to cap off the scoring on the night.
 
Inside the Numbers:
  • Alec Szwarcewicz scored both of the Bobcats goals.
  • Trevor Gray (Gorham, Maine) recorded seven saves in net for the Mariners.
  • Reuben Harrison (Heidelberg, Germany) tallied two shots for the Mariners.
  • The Bobcats held a 20-2 advantage in shots and 5-1 advantage in corners over the Mariners.
Up Next: The Mariners fall to 1-2 overall, while Bates College improves to 1-0. Maine Maritime returns to action on Saturday, September 10 when they travel to the University of Maine at Presque Isle to open up conference play, kickoff is set for 1:00pm.
