CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime women's basketball had four players in double-digits in a 83-58 win over conference opponent SUNY Canton.

How it Happened: The first quarter was extremely competitive with the Kangaroos taking a one point lead. The Kangaroos worked their lead up to three before the Mariners hit five threes in a row, three from
Maria Barela (Albuquerque, N.M.), one from
Kali Barber (Tampa, Fla.), and one from
Grace Huntwork (Gretna, Neb.), to take a 13 point lead. The Mariners extended that lead to 15 to end the half.

Maine Maritime continued to extend their lead in the second half, claiming a 25 point victory.

Inside the Numbers:
- Barela recorded a game-high 22 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
- Lauren Plissey (Hermon, Maine) had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds, along with seven assists and one block.
- Evelyn Dagan (Castine, Maine) added 11 points and Erianna Moore (Fitchburg, Mass.) added 10 points to the mix.
- Sophia Munoz tallied 18 points, while Joie Culkin added 15 for the Kangaroos.
- Maine Maritime shot 50% from the floor and 46.4% from beyond the arc, while SUNY Canton shot 35.6% from the hardwood and 19% from the three point line.

Up Next: Maine Maritime improves to 8-5 overall and 4-0 in conference, while SUNY Canton falls to 8-8 on the year and 4-3 in conference. The Mariners return to action tomorrow, January 14 at 1:00pm when they take on NVU-Johnson in another conference matchup.
