CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime women's basketball beat UMaine-Fort Kent 102-60 in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday evening. The Mariners set a record for three pointers made in a single game with 17, while
Erianna Moore (Fitchburg, Mass.) recorded the program's first triple-double with 13 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists.
How it Happened: The Mariners started off strong with back-to-back threes from
Kali Barber (Tampa, Fla.) and
Evelyn Dagan (Castine, Maine) to jumpstart an 18-4 run. Maine Maritime took a 30-15 lead after 10 minutes of play. In the second quarter, the Mariners continued building on their lead and Moore brought the squad to halftime with a three to bring the score to 54-34.
The second half was filled with similar action, with the Mariners overpowering the Bengals to claim a 102-60 victory.
Inside the Numbers:
- Moore led the Mariners with a triple-double with 13 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists, along with three blocks and one steal.
- Dagan tallied a career-high 22 points, six rebounds, one block, and a steal.
- Grace Huntwork (Gretna, Neb.) also set a career-high 19 points, five rebounds, and two assists.
- Lauren Plissey (Hermon, Maine) added 15 points to the mix, while Sydney Briscoe (Englewood, N.J.) chipped in a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds coming off the bench.
- Karolyn Baptise led all scorers with 23 points, while Jzane Cavalli-Money added 13 points off the bench for the Bengals.
- Maine Maritime shot 50.7% from the hardwood and 54.8% from beyond the arc, while the Bengals shot 32.4% from the floor and 19.2% from three point land.
Notables:
- Maine Maritime broke the record for three pointers made with 17 on the night. The previous record was 14, held by the 2006 Mariners against Elms College.
- Moore tallied the first triple-double in Maine Maritime women's basketball history, joining only 21 other DIII women's basketball players to record a triple-double this season.
