CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime men's basketball records five players in double-digits to take a 93-62 victory over SUNY Poly in a conference matchup.
How it Happened: After being down three in the first couple minutes of the game, the Mariners slowly started building a lead, which they kept the entire first half. The Mariners were up by 12 at one point in the half, before only taking a 5 point lead at halftime.
Maine Maritime came out on fire in the second half, shooting 67% from the floor and 58% from the three point line, while outscoring the Wildcats 54 to 28. They clearly dominated the half, claiming a 93-62 win.
Inside the Numbers:
- Curt Heinz (Stuttgart, Germany) recorded a double-double with game-highs of 26 points and 21 rebounds, in addition to nine assists and three blocks.
- Carter Rubin (Littleton, Colo.) tallied 18 points, going 7-10 from the floor, four rebounds, three assists, and one block.
- Josiah Dancy (Orlando, Fla.) and Malachi Reincke (Houston, Texas) both added 14 points to the mix.
- Markus Ramirez (Colorado Springs, Colo.) rounded out the double-digit scoring with 11 points, five assists, and two rebounds.
- Cheickne Toure tallied 15 points for the Wildcats, while Jesse O'Dell recorded 11 points.
- Maine Maritime shot 59.7% from the hardwood and 56% from the three point line, while the Wildcats shot 46.4% from the floor and 42.9% from beyond the arc.
