LEXINGTON, Mass.– Maine Maritime Academy's women's soccer team defeated top-seeded Lesley University 1-0 in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Semifinals on Sunday, capturing the NAC East Division title in the process. The win propelled the Mariners to the Championship Finals for the third time in the last four seasons.
 
Kirra Magaña scored the game's only goal in the 66^th minute. Magaña collected a Lesley keeper's kick and advanced down the left side field before booting the ball into the bottom left corner. The goal held up as the game winner, completing a weekend in which Maine Maritime avenged its only two losses in regular season conference play.
 
First-year Isa Thesing earned her seventh shutout with five saves in the victory. She faced considerable pressure with Lesley outshooting Maine Maritime 15 to 3 in the contest. The Lynx owned a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Maine Maritime improved to 14-4-1 with the victory, establishing a new program record for wins in a season. Lesley dropped to 13-6.
 
The Mariners will look to capture their third NAC Championship next Saturday at SUNY Morrisville. The game time remained to be determined.
