CASTINE, Maine. – Maine Maritime Academy Mariners women's basketball team (2-1) lost their first contest of the season against Bowdoin College (2-0) by a final score of 47-57. 
Evelyn Dagan led the Mariners with 10 points while also gathering two rebounds.
 
The Mariners and Polar Bears kept things close in the first quarter, with the Polar Bears ending with a narrow four point lead.
 
After the Mariners found themselves down by 15 going into the final quarter, 
Kirsten Grindel opened up the fourth with a three to lessen the Bowdoin lead. The Mariners built on the momentum and went on a six point run in the middle of the fourth that cut Bowdoin's lead to nine.
 
More Mariners leaders included 
Sydney Briscoe in rebounds ending with seven and 
Erianna Moore who had two blocks in the contest.
 
Megan Tan led all scorers, ending with 17 for the Polar Bears.
 
The Mariners head back on the road this weekend for the Morin Memorial Tournament hosted by Williams College with the first game on Saturday, Nov. 18 with a 6:00 pm start time.
