Mariners Fall to Eagles

BANGOR, Maine – Maine Maritime women's basketball fell to Husson University 55-67 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) matchup on Saturday afternoon.
 
How it Happened: Husson got off to a quick 13-3 start on the Mariners in the first five minutes of the first quarter. Maine Maritime came back as the quarter went on, cutting the Eagles lead to four. The second quarter had a lot of back-and-forth action and the two teams were knotted at 26 going into the half.
 
Husson took control in the third quarter, taking a seven-point lead on the Mariners. Maine Maritime tried cutting into the Eagles lead, but they held on, taking a 67-55 victory.
 
Inside the Numbers:
  • Erianna Moore (Fitchburg, Mass.) had 17 points, four assists, two rebounds, two blocks, and one steals.
  • Maria Barela (Albuquerque, N.M.) tallied 10 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
  • Bailey Donovan had game-highs of 26 points, 25 rebounds, and six blocks, along with two assists, while Hannah Richards had 15 points, six points, three rebounds, and two steals.
  • Maine Maritime shot 35% from the floor and 26.3% from three point land, while Husson University shot 43.3% from the hardwood and 22.7% from the three point line.
 
Up Next: The Mariners fall to 18-6 overall and 12-1 in conference, while Husson improves to 19-6 on the year and 13-1 in conference play. Maine Maritime returns to action on Monday, February 13 at 7:00 pm against UMaine-Presque Isle for their last regular season matchup on the season.
