Moore Breaks Season Assist Record as Mariners Sail Past Beavers

FARMINGTON, Maine – Maine Maritime women's basketball beat UMaine-Farmington 67-48 in a conference matchup on Wednesday evening. Erianna Moore (Fitchburg, Mass.) tallied seven assists in the game to break the Maine Maritime women's basketball single season record for assists with 111 to date. She passes teammate, Makenzie Monzon (Orlando, Fla.) who reset the record last season with 105 assists.
 
How it Happened: The Mariners jumped out to a quick 12-0 lead to start the game, before taking a 21-8 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Mariners shot the ball poorly, allowing the Beavers to get within seven points going into the half.
 
Maine Maritime picked things back up in the third quarter, extending their lead to 18 points. The Mariners held onto their lead in the fourth quarter, claiming a 67-48 victory.
 
Inside the Numbers:
  • Maria Barela (Albuquerque, N.M.) led all scorers with 13 points, along with four rebounds, two steals, and one assist.
  • Lauren Plissey (Hermon, Maine) added 12 points, six rebounds, two blocks, two steals, and two assists.
  • Jacquelin Castro (Melbourne, Fla.) chipped in 10 points and five rebounds off the bench.
  • Moore had nine points, seven rebounds, seven assists, three blocks, and one steal.
  • Jacqui Hamilton tallied 10 points, while Grace Dwyer added nine points for the Beavers.
  • Maine Maritime shot 42.4% from the floor and 23.8% from three, while the Beavers shot 29.1% from the hardwood and 40% from three point land.
