BANGOR, Maine – Maine Maritime beat Husson University 22-19 on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened: The Mariners started the scoring off in the first quarter with a 2-0 run before Husson answered. The Mariners and Eagles then went back and forth ending the first quarter with a score of 7-5. The Mariners held onto their lead in the second quarter, taking a 13-12 lead going into halftime.

The second half was a continued battle between the two teams. After going back-and-forth, the Mariners were able to hold onto their lead, claiming a 22-19 victory against the rival Eagles.

Inside the Numbers:
- Hazel Stoddard (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) led the Mariners with five goals and 11 ground balls
- Amber Card (Bowdoin, Maine) had four goals along with one ground ball
- Kirra Magaña (Miami, Fla.), Beth Labbe (Brunswick, Maine), and Olivia Harriman  (Orrington, Maine) added three goals each, while Lily Cook (Southwest Harbor, Maine) chipped in two.
- Olivia Alejandro (Houston, Texas) and Rebecca Caron (Naples, Maine) each had one goal.
- Ella Bowes (Valley Lee, Md.) recorded six save in net for the Mariners, while Emily Godfrey had 14 for the Eagles.
- The Mariners held a 51-32 advantage in shots and a 29-23 edge in ground balls.

Up Next: Maine Maritime improves to 4-2 overall, while the Eagles fall to 3-3 on the year. The Mariners next match up will be Monday, March 27 at 7:00 pm against Thomas College.
