CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime women's lacrosse fell to SUNY Canton 21-13 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) matchup on Sunday afternoon.

How it Happened: SUNY Canton got on the board first with two quick goals, before the Mariners scored four straight goals sparked by
Kirra Magaña (Miami, Fla.) to end the first quarter. The two teams each scored another goal to first the second quarter, before the Kangaroos scored seven consecutive goals in to bring the score to 10-5 going into the half.

The two teams went back-and-forth in the third quarter, with the Kangaroos only outscoring the Mariners by one goal. The fourth quarter had similar action and SUNY Canton was able to hold onto their lead to claim a 21-13 victory.

Inside the Numbers:
- Rebecca Caron (Naples, Maine) led the Mariners with four goals, four draw controls, and two ground balls.
- Beth Labbe (Brunswick, Maine) had three goals and one assist.
- Magaña and Stoddard each added two goals, while two other Mariners had one goal each.
- Casey Pelton and Maddy Caron each tallied six goals, while Samantha Dayter added five goals and 10 assists for the Kangaroos.
- Kelsey Melton (Great Falls, Va.) tallied five saves in net for the Mariners, while Olivia Scott had 15 saves for the Kangaroos.
- Maine Maritime held a 39-35 advantage in shots and a 28-23 edge in ground balls over the Kangaroos.

Up Next: Maine Maritime moved to 8-3 overall and 3-1 in conference, while SUNY Canton improved to 5-6 on the year and 3-0 in conference action. The Mariners return to action on Saturday, April 22 at 4:00pm when they host Husson University in a NAC matchup on Senior Day.
