PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy women's cross country placed two runners inside the top-five at the UMPI Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
Fifth-year
Milo Cook-Sharp (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) paced the Mariners, finishing third overall on the 4k course, with a time of 20:28.93. Junior
Aubrey Mitchell (Spofford, N.H.) finished just behind Cook-Sharp in fourth, with a time of 22:17.77.
Rounding out the top-five for the Mariners were fifth-year
Sarah Smith (Kirkland, Wash.) who placed eighth with a time of 27:35.04, sophomore
Lillian Verrill (Pittsfield, Maine) who placed ninth with a time of 30:29.69, and first-year runner
Katie Maciejewski (Greenland, N.H.) who placed tenth, in her collegiate debut, with a time of 31:20.81.
The University of Maine at Presque Isle claimed first placed overall with a team score of 21 and a total time of 1:58:03.52. The Mariners finished second with a team score of 34 and a time of 2:12:12.24. UMPI's Katelyn Osborne was the top finisher with a time 18:50.97.
Up Next: The Mariners return to action next Saturday, September 9 when they travel to Biddeford, Maine to race in the Ron Ouellette Invitational hosted by the University of New England, set for 10:45am.
