WATERVILLE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy men's basketball team (5-5) fell to the Colby College Mules (7-5) by a final score of 74-88 in the first game of 2024.

Curt Heinz earned a double-double leading all players with 25 points and 16 rebounds. The junior center also ended the night with five assists, two steals, and one block.

The Mariners began the contest with a 5-2 lead after
C.J. Lilljeqvist scored the first five points for the Mariners. The Mules responded with an 11 point run to take the lead.
Markus Ramirez had an impressive end to the first half, scoring the last eight points for the Mariners, giving Colby a narrow five point lead at halftime.

The Mariners took back the lead in the second half after a made layup from Lilljeqvist that brought the score to 52-51 with 14:29 left to go in the contest. Colby retook the lead and ultimately won the game.

Maine Maritime continues on the road tomorrow for a match against the University of Maine at Augusta with a 6:00 pm start time.
