LYNDONVILLE, Vt. –
Markus Ramirez scored a career-high 34 points and moved to ninth all-time in the Mariners record books for most points scored in a single game. Maine Maritime (6-9,2-5) earned their second North Atlantic Conference (NAC) win of the season over the Vermont State Lyndon Hornets (1-17,1-7). The Mariners won the contest 99-86.

Ramirez earned four rebounds, three assists, one block, and one steal along with the new career high.
Curt Heinz also had a strong performance for the Mariners, securing a double-double with 30 points, 19 rebounds, five assists, one steal, and one block.

The contest opened with back-to-back threes from the Hornets to take an early lead. The Mariners gained their first lead after three made free throws from
Derick Santiago with 10:18 left in the first, making the score 20-18. The Mariners and Hornets kept things close for the remainder of the first. Maine Maritime entered the half down by five, 43-38.

Ramirez began the second half with back-to-back threes to put the Mariners up 44-43. After more back and forth between the teams, the game was tied at 48 a piece. The Mariners responded with an eight-point run to take the lead they held for the rest of the contest. Maine Maritime finished the game strong and secured the win.

The Mariners' next contest is on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 7:00 pm on the road against Bates College.
