LYNDONVILLE, Vt. – Maine Maritime Academy Mariners women's basketball (10-4,5-0) defeated North Atlantic Conference (NAC) opponent the Vermont State Lyndon Hornets (4-12,0-8) for their fourth straight win.
Sydney Loring led all Mariners with 14 points, going three for three from behind the arc. Loring also ended the afternoon with three rebounds, one assist, and one steal.
The Mariners opened up the game with a bucket from Sydney Briscoe that was quickly answered by the Hornets. With the game tied at two a piece, the Mariners went on a 10-point run to take the lead, which they held for the entirety of the contest. The Mariners continued to grow their lead, making the score 46-26 at the half.
Maine Maritime dominated the second half, outscoring the Hornets 45-21 to secure their 91-47 victory.
The Mariners had 14 different players score in the contest. Along with Loring - Briscoe, Maria Barela, Evelyn Dagan, and Erianna Moore all ended in double figures for the Mariners. Maine Maritime ended the afternoon shooting 52.5% from the floor and 53.8% from the three point line.
The Mariners return to their home court on Monday, Jan. 22 at 5:30 pm against NAC opponent Husson University.
