CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime men's basketball (9-10,4-5) defeated North Atlantic Conference (NAC) opponent the Lesley University Lynx (4-16,2-8) 88-74 behind a double-double from Curt Heinz.
 
Heinz ended the afternoon with 28 points, 20 rebounds, five assists, three blocks, and one steal.
 
The Mariners came out strong, outscoring the Lynx 23-9 in the first 11 minutes. MMA continued to dominate the first half, going into halftime with a 43-25 lead. The Lynx chipped away at the Mariners lead in the second, getting within four with eight minutes to go, but were unable to take the lead. The Mariners went on to earn the 14 point victory.
 
Along with Heinz, Carter Rubin, Isaiah Oquendo, and Josiah Dancy all ended the afternoon in double figures. Rubin ended with 20 points that included five threes. Oquendo added 11 and Dancy finished the game with 10.  Derick Santiago went 2-2 from the field and 2-3 from the free throw line, adding six for MMA.
 
The Mariners are on the road for their next contest against the University of Maine, Farmington on Tuesday, Jan. 30 at 5:30 pm.
