Senior Kirra Magaña had a record-breaking day with 10 points and four assists

CASTINE--Senior Kirra Magaña set a school record with 10 points and tied another with four assists as the Maine Maritime Academy women's soccer team scored a season-high eight goals in an 8-1 thumping of visiting UMaine-Presque Isle on Saturday at Ritchie Field. The Mariners extend their unbeaten streak to six games (4-0-2), improving to 7-4-3 overall and 5-2-1 in the North Atlantic Conference East Division, while the Owls fall to 3-6-2 on the season and 1-6-1 in the NAC-East.

How It Happened
  • Besides the scoreboard, MMA also dominated the boxscore: shots (32-7), shots on goal (12-4) and corner kicks (12-0)
  • The Mariners scored all the goals they would need in the first half when they led 4-0 after 45 minutes. Manes tapped in her first career goal in the 15th minute on assists from Magana and Ash. Magana added an insurance tally in the 25th minute. Magana and Hadley Stoddard scored 3 minutes and 33 seconds apart to extend the lead to 4-0 by the 34th minute.
  • Maine Maritime broke the game open with four goals in the second half 14 minutes and 56 seconds apart: White (62nd minute), Hazel Stoddard (71st), Hernandez (72nd) and Magana (77th).
