PRESQUE ISLE, Maine--The Maine Maritime Academy women's volleyball team hit .316 while holding host UMaine-Presque Isle to a minus-.020 percentage as the Mariners won their fourth-straight match with a 25-14, 25-16, 25-6 victory at Wieden Hall on Saturday. The visiting Mariners improve to 7-7 on the season, including a 3-0 North Atlantic Conference East Division mark. The Owls, meanwhile, are now 6-10 overall and 4-2 in the NAC-East.
MMA Highlights
- Senior Grace Jennings had a match-high nine kills while attacking for a .412 percentage.
- Junior Ila Smith posted eight terminations while hitting .800 against no attack errors.
- Sophomore Sydney Williams and freshman Hannah Tate spearheaded the defense with match highs of four total blocks and 18 digs, respectively.
- Sophomore Ally Hadley directed the efficient attack with 19 assists while contributing six kills.
UMPI Highlights
- Owls leaders were Faith Graham with seven kills, Rylie Kolkow with 17 assists and Kylee Blazick with seven digs.
First Set
- The Owls held leads of 2-0 and 5-3.
- But an UMPI service error ignited a MMA 5-0 run to give the Mariners an 8-5 advantage.
- The Owls, however, came back to score the next three points for an 8-all tie.
- Maine Maritime then won 12 of the next 14 points to take command 20-10. The Owls committed eight errors during that stretch.
Second Set
- The teams traded the first six points to start the frame.
- Maine Maritime built leads of 7-4 and 10-5 before UMPI eventually tied it 12-all on a Graham kill sandwiched between two MMA attack errors.
- But the Mariners were resilient and took the lead for good on a kill by junior Sam Urch (5 kills).
- Leading 15-12, MMA finished off the set on a 10-4 run.
Third Set
- The Mariners clinched the win by attacking with a robust .591 percentage and holding the home team to minus-.129.
- Leading 5-2, MMA seized control with a nine-point scoring run to go up 14-2.

- Maine Maritime leads the all-time series over UMPI 36-1, winning 32 consecutive meetings.
- The Mariners have held opponents to .032, minus-.123, .068 and minus-.020 hitting during their season-best four-match win streak.
