CASTINE--Maine Maritime Academy Sailing had a busy weekend of competition, traveling to New London, Conn., for the Connecticut College-hosted Stu Nelson Trophy and to Harpswell, Maine, for the Bowdoin College-hosted Hewitt Trophy.
In the Stu Nelson event, Maine Maritime placed 13th out of 15 schools with 333 points across three racing divisions. Freshman
Jane Marvin and senior
Amelia Griffith participated in A division, scoring 122 points. The division B boat helmed by senior
Ella Beauregard and junior
Julianna DeMarco scored 100 points. In C division, freshman
Simone Ford and sophomore
Taber Allen tallied 111 points.
At the Hewitt Trophy, the Mariners tallied 200 points to tie The Citadel for 12th out of 15 teams over two racing divisions. Senior
Henri Richardson and junior
William Ries notched 96 points in division A, while juniors
Griffin Stolp,
Charles O'Rourke, sophomore
Isaac Thompson and freshman
Ryan Becker comprised the division B boat and scored 104 points.
Maine Maritime returns to action next Saturday for Peak Foliage hosted by the University of New Hampshire in Durham, N.H., and Saturday-Sunday for the MacMillan Cup held by Navy in Annapolis, Md.
