CASTINE, Maine — The Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association announced its yearly all-academic team on Thursday and Maine Maritime Academy had two sailors named to the list.
Ella Beauregard and senior
William Ries were both named to the list after meeting the following qualifying criteria.
To be eligible, the ISCA all-academic sailing team recognized juniors and senior who have participated as a competitor or alternate in seven regattas and have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
To be recognized on the all-academic team is a serious accomplishment even before you take into account the challenging course load that upperclassmen at Maine Maritime have," head sailing coach
Patrick DiLalla said. "These sailors not only competed as members of both the dinghy and keelboat teams — they did so while preparing for challenging Coast Guard exams in addition to rigorous classes on-and-off the water. Their dedication to this sport and their academics is obvious and should be celebrated."
