CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime had four score in double figures as the Mariners toppled Thomas 67-39 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action Monday night. The win was the Mariners 14
th in as many games, completed the regular season with an unblemished conference record, and secured the eighth season in program history in which Maine Maritime recorded 20 wins.
Sydney Briscoe and
Grace Huntwork each scored a dozen for the Mariners (20-4, 12-0 NAC). Briscoe added 13 rebounds for the double-double to go with three assists, three steals and a blocked shot.
While Briscoe did her work beneath the basket, Huntwork cashed in from afar going 3-of-7 from beyond the arc. Her trey with 3:40 remaining in the first quarter sparked a 13-0 Mariners run that put the game on ice early. Huntwork recorded three rebounds and a steal.
Erianna Moore scored 10 points and gathered nine rebounds, three assists and blocked two shots.
Jacquelin Castro dumped in 11 points grabbed four rebounds, blocked a pair of shots and had a steal coming off the bench.
Thomas (9-15, 6-6 NAC) got 11 points from Hana Isahac. Charlen Butera recorded three points and grabbed six boards.
The two teams will meet again for the third time in less than a week on Friday night in Castine. Thomas will play as the fourth seed in the NAC East Division Playoffs against the top-seeded Mariners at 5:30 pm. That will be followed by #2 Husson squaring off with #3 Maine-Presque Isle.
