CASTINE, Maine– Maine Maritime Academy women's basketball team (17-4) defeated the University of Maine at Fort Kent Bengals (5-4) 87-40 on Monday night.

The Mariners came out hot off of the jump, outscoring the Bengals 34-6 in the first quarter that included seven made threes. MMA built off their momentum in the second and went into halftime with a 51-19 lead. The Mariners continued to dominate for the second half of the contest and earned the 47 point victory.

Twelve Mariners scored in the contest.
Evelyn Dagan led the way scoring 19 points that included shooting 6-11 from behind the arc.
Sydney Loring also ended the night in double figures with 11 points.
Maria Barela brought down 12 rebounds in the contest, matching her career high.
Sydney Briscoe and
Makenzie Monzon ended the night with a similar stat line - each securing nine points, seven rebounds, one assist, and one steal.

The Mariners head on the road for their next contest tomorrow against Southern Maine Community College with tip-off scheduled for 6:00 pm.
