Henniker, N.H. – Maine Maritime men's lacrosse beat New England College 17-9 Saturday afternoon in a non-conference matchup. The Mariners were led by sophomore
Jacob Hintermaier who led all scorers with five goals in the match.

The Pilgrims broke the ice at 12:44 with the first goal of the game before the Mariners dominated the rest of the first quarter with a four goal run sparked by a goal from
Alex Stevens, assisted by
Trey Marcil. Similar action continued in the second quarter when New England College found the back of the net to start before Maine Maritime scored four more goals, three from Hintermaier and one from
Brendan Reddington to wrap up the first half with a controlling 8-2 lead.

In the second half each team scored in bunches, first starting with the Pilgrims when they came out of halftime scoring three straight goals. The Mariners were quick to answer with three of their own, before New England College hit three more.
Jackson Fitch ended the run with an unassisted goal and sparked three more from the Mariners. Maine Maritime continued to control the rest of the fourth quarter and took a 17-9 victory.

The Mariners dominated the Pilgrims in shots and face-offs which helped lead them to victory.
Bryce Crowell was 21-28 at the X for Maine Maritime.

Each team only played one keeper,
Garrett Ruszkowski for the Mariners and Hunter Sutcliffe for the Pilgrims. Each keeper saved 11 shots for their team.

Maine Maritime returns to action on Tuesday, March 12 when they host the University of Southern Maine in their first home matchup of the 2024 campaign.
