BANGOR, Maine – After a week and a half off, Maine Maritime men's lacrosse beat Husson University 24-7 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) matchup on Wednesday evening.
Jayden Wilson led the Mariners with five goals and three assists on the night, while
Riley Morin and
Jackson Fitch each added four goals to the total.
Morin found the back of the net first for the Mariners after a scoreless four minutes to start the match to start things off. His goal was followed by one from
Noah Caramihalis and
Jacob Hintermaier. Maine Maritime continued to score seven more goals to end the first quarter with a score of 10-0. Fitch and Morin started off the second quarter with back-to-back goals, before the Eagles put up there first goal of the night. The Mariners answered with six more goals in the quarter to the Eagles one to make the score 18-2 going into halftime.
Maine Maritime continued to hold onto their lead in the second half, outscoring the Eagles by one.
The Mariners outshot the Eagles, 63-22 and held a 70-35 advantage in ground balls. Maine Maritime won 21 out of 33 faceoffs with
Bryce Crowell winning 18-24 and
Cole Michaud taking 3-9.
Garrett Ruszkowski picked up the win for the Mariners, making two saves and
Will Farrell relieved him in the second half, making four saves on the night. Cohen Trnka and Odin Burk split time in net for the Eagles, making seven and nine saves respectively.
Maine Maritime returns to action this weekend when they head to New York to take on SUNY Delhi on Saturday, April 20 at 1:00pm in a NAC matchup.
