Record Breaking Day for Mariners Lacrosse

ONEONTA, N.Y. – Maine Maritime men's lacrosse beat SUNY Cobleskill 27-12 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) matchup Sunday afternoon. Jayden Wilson led the Mariners with 17 points (nine goals and eight assists), breaking a program single-game record, while Bryce Crowell won 31 faceoffs, also resetting a program single-game record.
 
Maine Maritime started off strong, scoring the first four goals sparked by Alex Stevens in the first minute of action. Each team scored three more goals in the first quarter to make the score 7-3 in favor of the Mariners. Maine Maritime dominated the second quarter, outscoring the Fighting Tigers 8-1. 
 
The Mariners continued to extend their lead, scoring seven-straight goals in the third period sparked by two man-up goals by Sam Nichol. SUNY Cobleskill came alive in the four quarter, scoring eight goals to the Mariners five but it was too little too late and the Mariners took a 27-12 victory. 
 
Maine Maritime outshot the Fighting Tigers 67-33 and held a 62-26 edge in ground balls. The Mariners won 36 of the 41 faceoffs, thanks to Crowell who went 31-31 on the day at the X. 
 
Maine Maritime played three goals on the afternoon. Zach McCarthy got the win, making six saves in the first half. Will Farrell relieved him in the third, making five saves and Alden Gomez played the fourth quarter, also making five saves. James Meier played all 60 minutes for SUNY Cobleskill, making 17 saves on the afternoon. 
 
The Mariners return on Wednesday, April 24 at 6:00pm when they host Thomas College for their last home contest of the regular season.
