CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime men's lacrosse fell to SUNY Poly, 13-12 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) matchup. The Wildcats hit two goals in the last minute of the game to win.

Brendan Reddington broke the ice for the Mariners off a pass from
Sam Nichol for an early goal. Six minutes later, the Wildcats got a goal of their own before the Mariners went on a three-goal run sparked by Nichol to make the score 4-1 at the end of the first quarter. The Mariners and Wildcats both scored one goal each to start the second quarter, before SUNY Poly went on a three-goal run themselves to knot the game up at five all going into the half.

After the Wildcats scored a goal to start the third period, Maine Maritime tallied three consecutive goals sparked by Reddington to take an 8-6 lead. The two teams went back-and-forth to end the third period with a score of 9-8 in favor of the Mariners. The fourth quarter was full of action for both teams. The Wildcats struck first to tie the game at 9-9 until
Jayden Wilson answered with an unassisted goal to take the lead. A minute later, SUNY Poly hit a shot, quickly answered by
Riley Morin. The Wildcats tied the game up once again at the five-minute mark and two minutes later Nichol hit his third goal of the afternoon to take a one-point lead. SUNY Poly scored two goals in the last minute of action to tie and claim a 13-12 victory.

Maine Maritime held advantages in ground balls (46-22) and shots (51-36).
Bryce Crowell had another great game, winning 24 of the 28 faceoffs for the Mariners.

Garrett Ruszkowski played all 60 minutes for Maine Maritime, making eight saves on the day. Joseph VanZandt made 14 saves for the Wildcats.

Maine Maritime returns to action on Wednesday, April 17
th when they travel down the road to Husson University for another NAC matchup at 7:00pm under the lights.
