Kirra Magaña led the Mariners with a pair of goals in the 3-2 victory

CASTINE--Senior Kirra Magaña scored a pair of goals, including the go-ahead tally in the 60th minute, to help lead the Maine Maritime Academy women's soccer team to a 3-2 victory Sunday over visiting University of New England in non-conference action at Ritchie Field. Both teams are now 1-1 overall.

MMA Notes UNE Notes
  • Tori Keyes potted both goals for the Nor'Easters, and she now has four on the season.
  • Anna Flaherty had seven saves.
How it Happened

  • Junior Maya Brown gave MMA a 1-0 advantage in the 21st minute on assists from Magaña and Stoddard. The latter pushed the ball up to Magana who fed a through-ball to Brown, who ripped a shot off the keeper's hand.

  • The teams went into halftime with MMA holding a 2-1 lead after Magaña headed home a Taylor Webster corner kick into the goal in the 33rd minute.
  • UNE outshot MMA 15-14, but the hosts had 10 on goal to seven for the visitors.
